YWCA

From May to August 2015, YWCA launched its pilot Empowering Mums project as part of its 140th anniversary. 16 mothers eventually graduated from the 8-week project and within six months, 14 of them (or 87.5%) were engaged in formal or informal employment and/or have enrolled in a dedicated course of study. 7 of them further underwent some form of skills upgrading. One year on, the same number continued to be engaged.

The mothers also reported a growth in their level of confidence from the onset of the project and regular meetups were being organised for over a year to continue the journey of change with them. 4 graduates returned for the 2016 run of the project to buddy up and support the new batch of mothers undergoing the project.
