Meals-on-Wheels for Children Delivery & Outings

The Meals-on-Wheels for Children programme is a free dinner delivery service for almost 300 children living in the Outram vicinity and along the west-bound MRT line up to Jurong East. Lunches are catered to the YWCA’s Outram Centre and delivered to the children at their homes or partnering schools from Mondays to Fridays, except on public holidays.

On top of providing for their physical needs, the YWCA set up the YWCA Kids’ Weekday Care (KWC) to replace the former Kids’ Club programme which ran from 2007 to 2015. KWC is a new thrice-weekly afterschool care service created in response to the needs of beneficiary families.

While most volunteer opportunities to interact with the children fall under the KWC, special projects have been run on an ad-hoc basis. These include taking the children grocery shopping to teach them budgeting skills and creating care packages at exam time for the beneficiaries.
