Sustenance for Families

Hungry No More: Sustenance For Families

Launched in 2010, the Sustenance for Families programme aims to ease some of the financial burdens faced by low-income families who are struggling to make ends meet by providing dry rations.

Families under the standard weekend distribution programme will receive basic and daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil and canned food every month.

For the weekday distribution programme, families will receive customised dry ration packages which are packed according to their needs.

The YWCA partners with external agencies such as Family Service Centres and other welfare organisations to identify these needy families.

Applicant must fulfill the following criteria in order to qualify for the Sustenance for Families programme:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident;
  • Regardless of race, religion or gender;
  • Total household income should be less than $1,500 per month or less than $450 per capita (per person per household).

Interested parties must approach their nearest Family Service Centre or Social Service Centre to request for a social worker who will apply on their behalf.

The Sustenance for Families Application Form can be downloaded here. Please email your application form, appendix (if necessary), social report and supporting documents. We are unable to review and process the application without these documents.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be advised that clients are not allowed to call the YWCA as we will not have any direct contact them. In the event that the client is not at home, the bags will be returned to YWCA and the requesting agency will be expected to make the necessary arrangements to collect the ration bags. Please ensure that an appointment is made prior to collection.
