EM2 Voices of Our Mothers

EM2 Voices of Our Mothers, read aloud at 7 January 2017 Graduation Ceremony

Hello everyone, our names are _____ and we have been on this Empowering Mums journey with all the mums here. On behalf of all the graduating mothers, we would like to read out some things that our mothers want to say today to everyone. We represent the voices of the mothers.

Learnt a Lot
Together, we learnt a lot in this journey. Some of us learnt how to appreciate ourselves through making up, dressing up and communicating better. I managed to identify my strengths and enhance my capabilities. We actually not only learnt new things but made new friends.

More Confident
Because of what we learnt, mums became more confident. Some are now more confident to talk. I’m more confident to speak up. We know what we want in our lives, in the next year, in the next five years. It is what we want. It is our very own choice.

More Choices
After coming on this journey, I find it’s a golden opportunity to lead my life! We do not want to miss opportunities given. Empowering Mums was a choice for some of us, some of us felt a little forced but we chose by ourselves to stay on throughout. It is a choice that has led us to today.

Lost & Found
Today, I have lost and found some things on this journey. We have lost our fears and found craziness! Craziness is the way we let go and laugh in the face of our fears. Some of us started this journey believing it was a waste of time, but my first time here, I lost my lack of confidence and found the motivation to return, again and again.

Crushing Fear
As we came back again and again, I learnt how to crush my fear. Some of us had fear of the choices we made. We wrote down our greatest fear and crushed it in our own hands. We had power over our fear. We crushed our fear of failure and learned that beautiful things can happen.

Opening Up
Beautiful things like learning how to open up. I learnt that truly, sharing is caring. Some of us opened up to come out of the house after a long time. Others opened up to give this a try. “Don’t know, then ask, don’t keep quiet!” That is how I opened up on this path.

Family
When we opened up, we learnt something very precious for our journey. I’m not alone here, because I have “Family”. Some of us are real family – we have sisters, mothers and daughters. We also have more family here and very nice family. They help us keep going on in this journey.

Never Give Up
So together, we learnt never to give up. We say to ourselves, “No matter how hard it is, fight for it.” We say to each other, “Keep going and just do it”. Life is full of ups and downs, keep going and the rainbow will appear. We empower ourselves, I can be strong always, and never give up.
